What is China Internet Incident in Pentagon?

In April 2010, the Pentagon, military and defense institutions in the United States encountered the Internet. What happened?

Acknowledged the incident occurred on April 8, 2010. Time for a short while only, 18 minutes, but so spotlight US-China commission on his American Parliament.

What kind of incident in question? For 18 minutes, all internet access from the defense and the U.S. military transferred (re-route) via China. The servers involved in this incident received a message that the route through China is the closest and effective.

This is certainly odd since China is a separate area of the ocean with the U.S.. To reach China’s internet connection is not impossible to go through the submarine cable or satellite.

The channels through which it is owned by China Telecom, one of the largest telecommunications operator in China. The company was once owned by the government.

Presumably the message is an error or a false message. Not yet known whether the emergence of the wrong message it is intentional or not.

China Telecom has confirmed that this was not a hijacking of U.S. Internet Access by the Chinese. On the other hand, US-China Commission often refer to this incident as ‘piracy’ (hijacking)
